Tabled
I got the first part of the battle from Scott the other day. It's really pre-battle stuff, and it mostly fits with what we already have, but he changed a few details.
As much as it pains me, I'm tabling Sword and Scabbard for now.* Until I get the rest of the battle and see what he does, I run the risk of having to scrap my work in favor of his. Of course, since I'll be editing, some of his will be scrapped, too, if it's in the best interest of the story. I've just put too much into this book in the last few months to toss it all. It's not worth the friendship.
I'm turning my attention to AP, which was inspired by the History Channel. I'm armed with Holly Lisle's 'Build A Culture Clinic'** and will focus on world building this week. I have the language done enough; I don't dare work on that aspect of it right now or I'll get it confused with the Dregl for S&S! World building is not going to help much with word count, but it will help with the time goal, and right now, time is the priority.
*You can write to me about this if it will make you feel better, but you'll be preaching to the choir. I'll pass your comments along to the person who can do something about them.
** If you've been thinking about getting any of Holly's clinics, now is the time! She's got everything in the Holly Shop 10% this week. Perfect gifts for the writing Dad!
