If you do what you have always done, you will get what you have always had.

I'm living dangerously today. Very dangerously. Not only am I going to get my hair cut at a place I've never been and not asked anyone about, I'm considering having my ears pierced again. I had them pierced many, many years ago and have been thinking about this for a while. Now my baby wants her ears pierced and it seems like an interesting mom/daughter activity.

Yes, I know, it's pitiful when ear piercing and haircuts are considered living dangerously. More later.

Yes, I'm still around. We're still confined to public terminals, but still here and getting over the jet lag. We're settling in as much as we can and planning a trip to Mom's in the next week or so. Yeah! I get to be home for the county fair for the first time in, um, well, since I left home. I'll just leave it at that!

I've learned yet again that God has a sense of humor. I was in IL for tech school MANY years ago, and I remember that summertime was hot. Granted, I was further east and not on the bank of the Mississippi, but it was hot and humid. I packed accordingly: shorts, tank tops, and t-shirts with a couple pairs of jeans and a sweatshirt just in case. What have I been wearing? My jeans and sweatshirt. It's 68 here today! I'm shivering! I love it! After all those years of roasting to death, I'm finally in a climate I like, at least for however long this lasts. The better news is that our unaccompanied baggage is here and can be delivered to our temporary housing. We'll have to store some of it before we go to Mom's, but that's ok. I have more jeans and long sleeve shirts in there! :-) I'm a happy girl.

I'll be happier in a little while. After I get some more coffee...

Just a quick update:

We arrived safely Friday night. The flights were good, much better than I'd anticipated. Family and cats did well and we're trying desperately to kick the jet lag.

The weather has been cool, low 80's, and I've actually been chilly. I know it's just waiting for our household goods to be delivered before it goes back up to 105.

We found a house and will be able to take possession in a couple of weeks. I'm not happy about the time frame; we have to board the cats until we move in, which means they're living in cages. However, the place where they're being boarded is nice, has a good reputation, and the lady who owns it refers to the animals at "babies" so I'm as comfortable as I'm going to get with it!

Status is good at this point. I'm even getting work done on the book! What a concept!
