Slightly dire

I haven't posted an update on my writing goals lately, mostly because I didn't want to admit that I'm behind. Far behind. I have to average nearly 8,000 words a week until the end of the year to make my 250,000 word goal. On the plus side, I've surpassed my minute goal. Part of the reason I'm behind is laziness. I just procrastinate because I don't know what to work on or how to move from one part of the story to the next. I've also been doing a lot of editing, which really beefs up the time goal but shoots word count in the foot.

I have started/labored over/ripped apart/cried about the query letter for Rogue Pawn. I have also tentatively chosen several publishers who will be receiving said query letter. Now I just have to finish the daggone thing and send it out. It's so much harder than I thought it would be. Definitely not like writing a letter to Grandma.

I recently found a small group of local writers and am looking forward to meeting them in the near future. The hardest part for me is the lack of accountability. My only deadlines are self-imposed, and therefore less stressful but also less productive, hence the reason I'm just shy of half-way to my word count goal with only 14 weeks left in the year.

Who knew telling stories could be so complicated?
